It sicks!

Listen with webReader

Last week had been a very challenging week due to some situations that I faced. One of them is a suspicious ‘clicking’ sounds and some red dots appeared. This signs of sickness appeared a few days ago while I in my lab doing some works.

The signs appeared in sequences; inconstant ‘clicking’ sounds followed by ‘blue screen’. The signs are referred to my new ‘family’ member, ASUS K40IN a affordable laptop with good specifications (for me larr..hehe).

ASUS-K40IN

The story began when I installed new driver for the graphic processing unit from nVidia website. I thought by upgrading the driver, the performance of the graphic will increase. Well, I’m not wrong at all and the result was great. That only the good side of the ‘upgrading’ thing. But the bad news is, the operating system that I used at that time did not compatible with the new driver. Either it is because the operating system is unstable yet or the graphic have problem. As the result, ‘blue screen’ frequently appear while I’m operating multiple task in a time. I decided to downgrade the operating system to the previous one, from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows Vista Home Premium. Well, the ‘blue screen’ never appeared again after the step.

But I’m not relieved yet, there are still annoying ‘clicking’ sound that I guessed disturbing the  overall performance of the system. I ran a few test and diagnose to the system:

first check :

check disk – to check the disk damage block (windows utility)

round 1 : clear (fast mode)

round 2 : a few sectors was corrupted, was repaired.. (thorough scan)

after a few rounds of first check done in three days, the result still not made me satisfy. So, I went to second check;

second check:

HD TUNE PRO (trial version)

although it was a very long process, but..now clearly I can see the defect area on the disk. No wonder everytime I tried to access the sector/file, it will make the system look like freezing. I just let it continued because the HDD light were blinking; a sudden stop will make the hard disk damage. So, this was the result of the scan.

Defect sector?? wahh..

Why did so many red dots there?It showed the hard disk had 6 sector corrupted = 732Mb..almost 1Gb! Is it because the hard disk manufacturer? I don’t know because my previous and current hard disk (desktop) are from Seagate and Western Digital. I believe in their performance. Because of the laptop is still under warranty, I just sent it back to the shop and as I expected before, the duration will be in about a month or more.

Well, now I’m will fully using my desktop as before. For the mean time, I have to forget the mobility and working at one static place. Most of my time spent at lab and maybe if they upgrade the computer there, I will not so hoping I can get my laptop soon.

No matter how or what, I need to finish the task by avoiding giving excuses..huhu..hope so…wallahu’alam..
